| I hit a very low and dark point in my life this past summer and was not sure where to turn. Though I never consider myself a victim of anything, and hold myself accountable for everything in my life, I was feeling low and defeated. Being a single parent I felt I didn’t have the support and encouragement I needed to even handle some of day to day things. A feeling I stuffed for so long I couldn’t avoid it anymore. I was having some serious challenges with my landlord and needed someone to step in and assist me in solution and resolving our issues. I called Marla with the Wiliv Center. Marla was so supportive and attentive and willing to assist. This was not because she saw me as any type of victim or felt sorry for me. I knew it was because she has such a deep passion and compassion for serving women in the community. Marla stepped in and placed a call on my behalf to my landlord. She was strong and fair and it helped me tremendously. Needless to say we resolved it all and life moved on. Though even so, Marla took the time to call me a week or two later to follow up, just to check in and see how I was doing. I felt cared for and certainly felt like I was not alone. Thank you Marla for your strength, support, and compassion! |

I am so grateful for Marla Swanson and the WilLiv Center. Here I was a professional woman who had helped many women through difficult times in their lives--and now it was my turn to need help. When Marla offered to come to court with me to file divorce papers, I was surprised to realize how scared I really was to take that big step AND how relieved I was to have someone there with me to support me. Marla was there every step of the way. I don't know what I would have done without her caring, strength, and support. Thank you, Marla and the WilLiv Center, for all you do for women and families beginning their lives anew. |
